The Department of Theatre and Dance at  Montclair  State  University
seeks
candidates for a  full-time, tenure track appointment as Scenic
Designer in the
Production/Design  Program. Excellent communication skills,
collaborative and
collegial attitude  required; strong teaching skills a must. Teaching
areas
include scenic design,  drawing and rendering, scene painting and
computer-aided
design. The ideal  candidate will be proficient in multi-media and
computer
design technology with  a working knowledge of sound, props, rigging and
lighting. Production duties  include designing departmental
productions, closely
mentoring student designers,  and working with our Technical Director
to execute
design responsibilities.  Candidate should have an MFA, with at least
three
years teaching at the  college-level, professional design experience
preferred.
Facilities include a  200-seat black box theatre, an 80-seat dance
theatre, a
960-seat proscenium  house, a state-of-the-art 499-seat theatre, and
fully-equipped scene shops.   Applicants should submit a cover

vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, three letters of
reference and
