CENTRAL MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY
POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Theatre,
Interpretation, and Dance (#F198)
AVAILABLE: August 2008
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching load will consist of 9 semester hours
each term. Specifically, the position entails the following:
1. teaching coursework in music theatre (performance
and history), and movement
for the
actor;
2. teaching other courses selected from acting,
directing, theatre appreciation, or
other
area of candidate's specialty;
3. directing in the University Theatre production
program with special capabilities in
directing and/or choreography for musical theatre;
4. continued artistic and scholarly activity;
5. student advising and serving on various area,
department, and university committees.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. or M.F.A. in Theatre Arts preferred;
ABD candidates considered (completion of terminal degree will be
required for tenure consideration). Academic background and/or
professional experience in music theatre performance, music theatre
history, movement, and actor training; evidence of excellence in
directing for musical theatre; evidence of teaching effectiveness and
scholarly/creative activity required.
RANK AND SALARY: Assistant Professor (tenure-track). Competitive
