It takes a village to ensure that every associate and participating production entered in our regional festival receives a knowledgeable and supportive response from a faculty artist respondent. This important volunteer role is essential to our educational mission of training and empowering the future leadership of the American Theatre.
We ask that your department supply at least one respondent visit for every associate and participating production you entering the festival.
How to become a respondent
- Let your KCACTF state chair (see contact info below) know you’re interested
- Attend a respondent training (virtually – see link below, or at festival) and observe a response with seasoned responders. Respondent workshops are offered annually at the Regional Festival (& we now also have a video option). Once you have completed the video or in-person Training, please contact your state chair ASAP. (see contact info below).
Response Scheduling
- Our state chairs coordinate scheduling of respondents for all Associate productions. Communication of production performance dates, times and locations is managed via email. Please contact your state chair to ensure that you receive these notices.
- Respondent for Participating productions is coordinated by the regional chair and covered by members of regional selection committee.
Questions?
- Contact your state chair (listed below) or the regional chair.
Anti Bias Training For All Respondents
In the interest of creating a constructive, beneficial, and positive feedback environment for all of our students, the KCACTF National organization has asked us to provide anti-bias materials for all respondents, which should be reviewed prior to any and all production responses. All respondents must do the following two tasks:
1) Watch the videos linked below as soon as possible as soon as you have completed the in-person or video respondent training. (beginning with Russel McClain’s “Implicit Bias, Stereotype Threat and Higher Education”)
2) Once you have viewed the videos, complete the “Anti-Bias Completion Form” (link below), indicating that you have viewed the 4 videos. (This form will be shared with state chairs, only individuals who have completed the implicit bias viewings, along with the accompanying “Completion Form” will then be able to be assigned to respond to upcoming KCACTF productions).
